MacGillivray Freeman Films Offices at the Villa Bella March 29, 2000
To Whom It May Concern: In the winter of 1999 MacGillivray Freeman Films set out on a filming expedition of the underwater caves of the Yucatan. Weeks of logistical research, scouting, and prep were required to make this four weeks shoot a reality. Taking an IMAX camera into what is possibly the longest underwater cave in the world is by no means an easy task. As the production manager on the shoot, I was very fortunate to have found Jorge Gonzalez. He is a local resident of the Yucatan, who happens to be a very experienced cave diver/instructor. Based on his friendly persona, grasp of English, and his knowledge of cave diving, we quickly decided that Jorge would play one of the key characters in the Yucatan sequence of the film as "The Dive Ace" Throughout the prep phase, and of course the production Phase, Jorge not only fulfilled his duties as an "actor" but he was an integral resource to the production unit. Being a local resident he helped solve various production problems and more importantly his cave diving expertise made it possible for us to get all shots were required. All of us are ecstatic with the footage we obtained from the Yucatan. In the film, JOURNEY IN TO AMAZING CAVES. This is in part due to the dedication and guidance of Jorge Gonzalez-Pacheco. Best regards, Joshua Colover
